ok, I've been tinkering around on the Aria website, and have this as my new pc spec:

Arianet Concerto Piano Black Micro ATX Case 0 £ 18.60
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H, GeForce 7100, Socket 775, MCP-630i £ 38.37
Kingston 2GB PC2-6400 HyperX (2x1GB) £ 27.95
LITEON DH-20A4P 20x DVDRW - Black £ 12.65
Microsoft Windows XP Home OEM SP2 £ 49.89
500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2 32MB ST3500320AS 7200RPM £ 37.95
Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.53GHz (Retail 775) £ 77.95

Am I missing anything? Comes to about £320 all in, I've gone for a Core2Duo processor, a bigger hard drive.

Am I likely to need cables and stuff? Or will it come with it?

oh, K saw the iMac at PC World for the first time yesterday, and even she thought it was lovely and shiny. But twice the cost of the above, at *least*.

You should get the IDE and SATA cables with the motherboard, but it's worth giving Aria a call and checking with them.

Looks like a decent enough spec!

OK, should have looked first - that's phenomenally cheap for a case including PSU

I would hesitate to go that far - they wouldn't be selling it if wasn't fit for purpose and your proposed system doesn't have anything in it that's going to be a particular power hog. Would I look at the PSU first if I suffered any stability problems with the new system? Probably. Is it worth seeing how it goes and only upgrading the PSU if needed? Almost certainly.

If you do decide that you want that whizzy new graphics card in the future, do consider budgeting for a new PSU at the same time though, because there's a real risk of a cheap unit failing to rise to the occasion. Bear in mind also that cheap cases and PSUs tend to have cheap (and noisy) fans and be prepared to replace these if they are intrusive.

All this apart, looks like a nice little system you're putting together.
