wordcount: 501

and I appear to have another new character already! Alberto, proprietor (dammit, *that* was the word I'd been looking for!) of the Nelson Mandela cafe in the student union.

No sign of Monty or Molly yet, which must be some kind of record. :-)

Writing this in Google Docs, so I can do some from whichever computer I happen to be at.

Where are *you* doing yours?

I like the cafe name!

If I were doing NaNo, I wouldn't be able to use Google Docs -- [evil bastage overlords] block it. They don't like anything which smacks of "offline storage". Did I mention that they're bastages?

you need some new overlords, of the non-bastage variety. They appear hell-bent on making your life grim.

I have a sneaking suspicion that quite a few universities now feature a Nelson Mandela coffee bar. Back in my day it used to be called the Mouat Jones.

It's beautiful. Takes up the whole screen, word counts for me, makes typewriter noises and did I mention it takes the whole screen up so I don't get side-tracked? Oh and there is an Amelie motif to it.

I'm doing mine on a piece of software called Liquid Story Binder... It can be run off of a pen drive, and it's always with me :)

ooh, that's rather lovely. Bit like Darkroom.

Had to turn the typewriter noises off, as it interferes with my tunez.

:-)

*love* the wordcount thing.

I typed along to Mozart earlier on and it was quite competitive!

I love elegant simplicity. :)

After failing to install open office & not being able to work out how to use Ywriter, mine is being typed on a 60 free trial of ms word, as I only have ms office installed on the pc, not the laptop. I don't usually need it.

I did it in a notebook last year & typed it onto the pc in the middle of the night, so this hopefully will get me further along as I only need to write it once.

I've used Notepad before, all you need is a text editor.

the one that [livejournal.com profile] sugar_shrapnel recommended is ace, as it shows you wordcount as you type, and you can set up other wordcounts too - so I had it showing how many words of the 1,667 daily target I'd done, as well as how many out of the 50,000 I had left to do. :-)

I did start it on notepad, but decided to tech it up a bit on Saturday afternoon *g* I can't do techie things unfortunately, though this edition of word has a wordcount at the bottom automatically I assume as I didn't put it there!
