busy weekend. K's mum's birthday yesterday, so we had K's brother, his wife, their two boys, K's sister, and K's aunt and uncle over from Portugal.

We've had a *lot* of very nice food.

Just uploading some photos now - we went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park today for a picnic. They've got an exhibition on by Peter Randall-Page, who does these amazing carved stone things, which are utterly brilliant and must take forever to do. There were two parts to it - outside you could touch the sculptures, but inside it was strictly no touching, no photos, no mobile phones, don't even *breathe* on them 'k?

ok, I made the last one up. But the 'no photography' thing makes me itch. Seriously - these things are HUGE blocks of carved stone. How are you going to damage them?

note to self - next time you go to the YSP, take your notebook so you can reliably report back on which artist made the stuff you're photographing!

This is, as you can see, a giant rabbit. Made of chickenwire.

I just love this small plaque on a wooden bench - the idea that the 'players' have got together and sorted out seating for the viewers.

The bench is in a large dome, in the centre of which are maybe a dozen thick wooden planks which, when you step on them, cause melodic tones to come out of hidden speakers.

This appeals to me in so many ways - today we watched an old guy and his wife try and work out the 'rules' of how it worked - maybe if you stepped lightly, you got higher tones, and stamping produced lower?

Maybe this is the game the plaque refers to. I really hope so. :-)
