I've spent my christmas amazon voucher. To go with A Study in Scarlet (the rather beautiful Penguin 'Read Red' edition), I've just ordered Kate Atkinson's Case Histories, and China Mieville's Un Lun Dun, as recommended by some of you lot.

:-)

Also updated my wishlist, in case any of my family decide not to go for the super-secret espresso machine birthday secret surprise.

I love books. You may have noticed this.

I figured that was three books as recommended by three friends. :-)

Excellent! This year I'm only reading books that are in my house already, since the backlog is huge. I have piles and piles. Should be interesting! (and, of course, over the holidays I hit up most of the indepedent booksellers in Madison, WI so I think I'm set, even though various friends-of-little-faith think I can't do it without running screaming for a library or bookstore within 3 months)

My plan is to not buy any books in 2009 - as the amazon voucher was a gift, I'm sneakily counting those books as the gift itself. I reckon that I've got more than enough unread books to keep me going, plus there are various on LJ who I can trade books with.

:-)

Eh? I'm confused now. Am I muddling up her books? Ah, there are 3 books in the Jackson Brodie Sset, Case Histories is the first. I've got Case Histories & One Good Turn (& actually all of her books apart from the latest)

Not The End of The World is probably my favourite, fantasy-ish short stories, some of which lap over & intertwine. It made me envious of her writing talent.

Excellent plan! I'm also planning not to buy books in 2009, which is why I laid in stores ahead of time :) Maybe we can keep each other honest.

I'll also happily send to you any books you're interested in after I've finished them.

Ditto. I've got the third one sitting here, so I might reread 1 &2 first :)

of course, now I'll have a dilemma as it'll turn up tomorrow. Still halfway through Charlie Stross's Halting State, then I have A Study In Scarlet queued up next. But this sounds fabbity fab...
