I want to poke him with a stick.

I want to poke him too. Yes, thin cards are annoying, but his is worse. If you can't fit it in the rolodex, it'll get lost.

I'm guaranteed to use his business card as a counterexample of everything that's wrong with pompous blowhard salesmanship.

Dude has a POP-UP business card? Sorry, but I can't take that seriously.

The one thing I hate about card designs is people who put a dark color on the back. No. No no no no. No. That's where I write important info like where I met you, what I agreed to do for you, or your personal cell phone number or the name of your cat.

I agree

Anyone who takes his advice is bound to failure.
His card is a gimmick and the first one to wind up in the waste bin becaus it won't fit it the standard card filing system. Can we say "This premise is false?"; I knew we could.

It took him 25 years to design his business card? Well, he's obviously not a designer, or he'd have died of starvation. Don't like him or his card.

Ah, he is in marketing. So his aim is completely different from that of everyone who's business card I want. When I want someone's business card it is because I want to do business with them (at least potentially) and want something to remind me how to contact them ...

His business cards are advertising. They wont fix in a rolodex so will sit around on the window-sill. They are so odd that they wont go straight in the bin, so when people visit my office they will see is card - I might even show them how stupid it is. And they will remember it. As he says it says what he does, so they might even remember the card when they want someone who does that ...
It probably does work for him.

His business card is a waste of his money. If I take your business card, it's because you've told me something about you/your company that has made me interested in it. I then will take a picture of your card and upload it to Evernote, where it will be easily searchable later when I want to look you up. Then the card goes in the recycle bin.

To me, the business card isn't a selling tool, it's an information tool. And how freely do you give out a business card that costs $4 to make?

Him: fuckwit. I want to punch him in the face. Repeatedly. With a hammer.

His card: Isn't a card, it's a mini-brochure. And I'm going to buck the trend and say I like it.

Nope, it's not going to fit in the Rolodex. Fine by me - it's an interesting piece of design that I am going to look at. I am going to show it to other people, and point out how neat it is. Although I will also deliver it with a message saying "but don't ever deal with this guy. The card is genius - he is an arse".

It's a mini-brochure. It's a compromise between a business card and a full A4 glossy leaflet. And I like that. Possibly a very good freelancer tool.

These fellas exist in all walks of life I guess,
Out of all the ones I have met in the dental field there is only one that didn't make me want to throw a punch within the 1st 2 minutes of speaking to them.
And yes, his business card is crap, why? Because it ain't a business card it's a brochure.
