So, this superbowl thing. No-one told me that Green Bay is like, totally in WI. I bet you're all having cool superbowl parties.

You should come over. We're not having a party (since we're in WV), but Dr. Nick is watching the superbowl thing, adn I'm making snacks like guacamole and hummus and eventually, black-bean chili. And there's beer.

Minnesotans do not discuss Green Bay* unless forced to by the fact that they are the only team left playing from our division (our Division being Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota).

*No, I do not know why (and you may not have noticed this because there's no reason why you would) the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers all go by city names, but the Minnesota Vikings are named after the entire state. ...oh, probably because we have two warring major cities right next to each other (Minneapolis/Saint Paul) and we'd never agree on which one to use.

Also, no cool party, just three friends, pizza, wine, and a neverending litany of how the two women think the Steelers quarterback, Ben Rothlisberger, looks weird. Fortunately the husband was on pain meds and couldn't stop us.

The good news is, starting today, the Minnesota Vikings are UNDEFEATED! .. for the upcoming season...

Minnesota is the state. Saint Paul is the capitol, but somehow Minneapolis managed to muscle in and get top billing. You always hear "Minneapolis/Saint Paul" to refer to the whole metro area, but not the other way around. And of course, the two are also referred to as the "Twin Cities", although it's clear they are fraternal twins and not identical ones. Saint Paul, despite its efforts, remains small and quaint, with a distinctly historic charm. Minneapolis is sleek and artsy, with a great reputation for performing and fine arts, not to mention design and advertising.

Our state motto is "Land of 10,000 Lakes" but it's really somewhere around 12,000. We have 90,000 miles of shoreline, and even though it's almost impossible not to be on a lake, lakefront property remains expensive. ... probably not as expensive as anywhere else, though.

...*blink* ... I don't know why I got all educatey, just there.

I like my state. My football team needs work, but I like them, too.
