Aug. 27th, 2008 11:42 amMorning all
I trust you're well, and managed to survive the weekend without your daily dose of
dakegra wibbleage?
I've noticed recently that I haven't commented in other journals as much as I used to. I do read them all (mostly), and sometimes make a mental note to come back and post a pithy/supportive/witty comment, but my mental notes aren't great, and I keep losing them. So, imagine that I've posted something appropriate to your recent posts, ok?
Right, that's saved some time. *rubs hands with glee*
I've noticed that I've come off some friendslists. I really don't have a problem with this, and quite frankly am suprised that so many of you put up with me for so long.
An open note to all, therefore: If you want to take me off your friendslist, please do! I won't be cross, honest.
I might have a clear out too - there are some journals that I *do* post comments in, which never garner a response - a lot of what I like about LJ is the social conversation aspect of it, and I occasionally feel that I've been shouting into the wind, and if the person I've been talking to doesn't want to reply, then is there any point?
Yes, I'm procrastinating. I've got a cost model and a PRRF to do, whatever *that* is. It's all numbers to me.
So, inna nutshell, Hi! hope you're well. If you want to go, go, if you want to stay, stay. I love you all.
not you...
*points*
everyone else though!

Date: 2008-08-27 11:15 am (UTC)My friends page was too quiet whilst you were away.
I suspect I am guilty of another sin in that I spend too much time lurking and occasionally commenting on other journals and never posting on my own. Except usually to rant at something. Must fix that.

Date: 2008-08-27 02:32 pm (UTC)So I am posting this to make sure that you know that I know how much 2-way (as opposed to 1-way) LJ friendships are so much better.
So you had darned well better respond to this comment, bucko!
:-D

Date: 2008-08-27 07:21 pm (UTC)Sorry. I see the word 'bucko' and I automatically lapse into Firesign Theatre.
Then I get nosy and check out your user info page (and your icons) and I see...
The Tick, The Beatles, Monty Python, Moody Blues, Kraftwerk...and your "location" is a town I've been to! :)
A company I worked for long, long ago, had an office in Beaverton. The company (now defunct) was called NCD, Inc.. I went up to the Beaverton office on several occasions (the main office, where I worked, was in California).

Date: 2008-08-28 01:33 am (UTC)Beaverton is a nice little burg, but it's getting bigger all the time, and not necessarily in a good way. Cookie-cutter houses barely three feet apart from one another everywhere, and they just won't stop cutting down the trees to make room for more. Quite vexing!!
I must admit - I have not heard of the Firesign Theatre connection to that term, but you learn something new every day.
I take it you are a tad familiar with my interests...? I'm a bit diverse, as you may be able to discern.
*grin*

Date: 2008-08-28 04:50 pm (UTC)It's been years since I've been to Beaverton, and truth to tell, they were day trips, so it was fly to Beaverton, get to the office, work on the project, head back to the airport and fly back home -- not a lot of time to take in the neighbourhood. :(
I do have an overall impression of things being lush and green, though. :)
"Dulth, bucko..." comes from the first section of the album, 'How Can You Be In Two Places At Once, When You're Not Anywhere At All'; the Ralph Spoilsport Motors section, where Ralph is describing all the features of a car he's featuring; in particular, a shortwave radio:
BABE: Can I get Duluth on it?
RALPH: Duluth? Bucko, you can get Tierra Del Fuego!
Um...you had to be there. :)

Date: 2008-08-28 01:41 am (UTC)Elfman, Gabriel, Fripp, Eno, Schulze....Pinky and Brain! Dogma.
Tangerine Dream? Boingo? Old Simple Minds, perchance? Classic Looney Tunes? Or....Stan Ridgway? Zappa?
You could be a man after my own heart, if I wasn't already married to someone who got to it first.
Heh!

Date: 2008-08-28 01:56 am (UTC)Boingo -- a bit (but I do remember them from the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo days -- does that count?).
Simple Minds - not so much (not big on '80s rock).
Classic Looney Tunes (-and- Merry Melodies) -- you bet!
I'm not familiar with Stan Ridgway (but I've heard of Wall of Voodoo).
Zappa - yep!

Date: 2008-08-28 02:12 am (UTC)Mystic Knights - of course. They did the Gong Show, did ya know that?
Early Simple Minds is the best. Try going back to the first couple of releases (late 70's?) - good stuff. "Don't You Forget About Me" about makes me ill these days.
LooTunes - "Yikes, and away!" - the best, hands down, forever and ever.
Ridgway - try getting ahold of "The Big Heat" or "Mosquitoes". "Mexican Radio" was really about the full extent of Wall of Voodoo.

Date: 2008-08-28 02:21 am (UTC)MKotOB -- I did not know that. I wonder if footage is available somewhere...
SM -- I'll hunt down some of the early stuff and check it out.
Prithee!
Ahh, yes, Mexican Radio! I wasn't remembering why I know of WoV. "I'm on a Mexican...radio. I'm on a Mexican -- whoa-oh -- radio."

And hey, feel like taking on another LJ friend? ;-)

Date: 2008-08-28 04:56 pm (UTC)I see you've upped your interests list, thus providing ample evidence that a mutual friending is the next logical step.
Er, I mean...sure! :)
