oh, did I ever post an update on the non-slidey slide? Can't remember.

Anyway, I was in the garden over the weekend hanging out some washing when LB had another go on the slide. She got about halfway down and stopped, an unhappy little Beanlette.

And you know how having an Unhappy Beanlette makes me sad. So I nipped into the kitchen, procured the furniture polish and proceeded to, well, polish the slide.

Boy, does that work! The squeals of joy as Unhappy Beanlette became Very Happy Beanlette were a sight for sore eyes. Or sore ears. Or something.

EB was retrieved from next door to test the new, improved slide. We ended up having to put a rug down at the end of it as they were going *so* fast.

In retrospect, polishing the very top bit of the slide where you stand pre-slide perhaps wasn't the best of ideas, but a quick wipe with a babywipe sorted that out.

So, dear reader. If you ever have problems with non-slidey slides, use furniture polish. Not only will your slide be super-slidey, it'll also smell delightfully of lavender.

As did the Beans, come to mention it.

;-)

The question is, are the Beans now well polished as well?

Wanna know a old nanny's secret? It's a somewhat more semi-permanent solution than regular furniture polish (and one that won't attract insects or come off on the child's clothing.)

Car wax.

A little bit will go a long way, cover evenly, allow to dry to a nice haze then buff it well. Be sure to ease off on it at the bottom so said child doesn't become a projectile into the neighbor's yard and go a little lighter at the top so it's a bit safer to get started.

Should last you at least a year or longer! Since car wax is meant to withstand the elements, it's also great for turning a rain storm into a cleaning device!

Baby wipes are creepy cool.

Not only do they leave bottoms spotless but SO MUCH MORE. I don't know how hold my wee ones will have to be until I give those babies up. They even take stains out of clothes - they're MAGIC, really.

I find it really weird how good they are at cleaning up EVERYTHING, yet don't seem to be harsh on the skin.

I'm *never* giving them up. We've got packets of them everywhere - car, bathroom, kitchen.

If you're feeling really keen, stick the used ones in with your washing - they come out as small, soft cloths which you can re-use. Only once or perhaps twice, but still useful.
