Decided that my next shiny has to be a graphics tablet after seeing one in action yesterday.

Anyone out there got one? Suggestions for what to look for?

As usual, budget is limited. ;-)

I used to have one. It was an a6 working space. I used it instead of a mouse for ages, I like them, but the older ones could be very fragile. I had been thinking about getting an A4 sized one, so I'll watch this thread wioth interest.

Wacom sell refurbed tablets via their website (http://www.wacom-shop.net/). They're under "Used Products".

Nods. It's a while since I kept up to date with their product lines, but I've used and recommended Wacom in the past, dating back to the days when I worked for one of their competitors and sat in a lot of meetings with people saying "They're doing what? For how much?!"

The Cintiq is an object of desire for me; I have no use for it and I'd never be able to use it properly, but it's just soooooo shiny.

Elaby has a Wacom tablet and LOVES it! I'll check with and see what kind it is.

I THINK it's an Intuos. It's the cheapest, at least ^^;; I'm quite pleased with it.

Definitely go with Wacom. They are the leader in the technology. Don't worry about size. I know we tell guys this all the time, but in this instance size really doesn't matter. :) I had a 4"x5" one and I upgraded to 6"x8" and didn't feel the extra space made a big difference. In fact I sometimes miss the smaller one because the smaller tablet was much less bulky to deal with. I've got an Intuos3, but even the Graphire line should be good enough.
One thing to check on pricing is if you can use your children for a student discount. I ordered both of mine through AcademicSuperstore.com.

Another vote for Wacom. Strangely enough I got mine from Netto.

I have a Wacom graphire, and my only complaint is that some of the software that installs with it is really, really, really annoying and should never be used.
