Someone asked a while back if I plan out my characters for NaNoWriMo.
I've tried NaNo a few times now, and never got beyond day 3 or so, so am almost certainly the wrong person to ask. Typically I get a great idea in October, get all bouncy and excited about it then get to November 1st and dry up almost immediately.
So, this year I've got my idea (ganked from 2005's non-starter), and have a couple of ideas of what might happen in the overall story. I've also got a handful of events or people I can throw into the pot if I dry up.
I'm tiptoeing around this one - I don't want to get carried away too early, and really want to get a good crack at it.
One thing I do *not* need is people going 'oh, *again?* Haven't you tried before?' and dismissing it. Or saying 'meh, everyone does NaNo'
So, come November, I shall quietly get on with it. I might post snippets if they amuse me. I might not.
If you find me grumbling in the first week of NaNo, do me a favour. Throw me a plot bone. A funny/interesting scenario or character I can use.
In fact, leave them here too - I think I'll stick them on index cards to rifle through at opportune moments.

Date: 2008-10-20 09:49 pm (UTC)People can be SO damn rude sometimes. I've read a handful of posts where people are turning up their noses. Things like "oh that's not REAL writing" in their Oh So Smug Superior selves.
I kind of want to hit them.
You can DO IT!!
Ignore everyone else. Anyone who tells you you can't do something or implies it, they're just foisting their own insecurities onto you. And you know what? You're WAY MORE AWESOMER than their insecurities.
Fr Srs. I knows. I seen it in de cards. Or something.
You rock. And I'll be tossing you ideas if I see you flagging :) Do the same for me too if I start whining :)
