Amazon's mp3 service is pretty good. Decent quality VBR mp3s at about 256kpbs, with a good selection - they have a fair bit of Porcupine Tree on there!

Annoyingly some tracks are 'album only', which is annoying as I suddenly realised that I could pick up the Foo Fighters' cover of Arcade Fire's 'Keep the car running' from the Live Lounge 3 cd.

alas no. Ah well.

I suspect that having to purchase entire albums won't be as much of an impediment for me, as most of the musicians I like tend to put out music such that I like everything on any given album.

I can see it being a problem for others when it comes to the more song oriented groups, though.

Which is not to say that there isn't the occasional one-off that I like.

quite - and a lot of the albums I've looked at so far you've been able to purchase individual tracks. I guess the compilation albums are more likely to be album-only.
