resolutions 2009

not sure where I want to take my photography in 2009. I'd still like to print/frame one of my non-Bean photos for a gift for someeone, so that's entirely possible. I'd like to read up on more photographers, aim to use the camera in aperture/shutter priority/manual mode more often.
I'd also like to carry a camera with me more often, though that's not always practical with the SLR(s) that I have - need to investigate a smaller alternative.
Umm, open to suggestions on this one (and indeed all of the resolutions so far)

You don't need to look at brand new strobes or Nikon/Canon ones. I shoot with Vivitar 285HV (make sure you get HV, you don't want to explode your DSLR).
