K's brother and his wife (well, mainly his wife) have had a baby boy, their second.

yay for new nephews!

I keep wanting to refer to R as my sister-in-law, but she's not, is she? J is my brother-in-law (as he's K's brother), but is she relegated to brother-in-law's wife?

Seems unfair.

anyhoo. *bounce*

I would call her sister-in-law. My hubby refers to [livejournal.com profile] hellbob as his brother-in-law.

maybe it's an "other-pondian" thing, but we 'Merkins refer to the in-law's spouses as in-laws as well. So Jon's brother's wife is still my sister-in-law. (I'd rather claim her than him anyway, LOL)

I've always refereed to my in-laws'spouses as in-laws. It just makes things easier. :-)

I tend to refer to [livejournal.com profile] nonameyet's brother's wife as [livejournal.com profile] nonameyet's sister-in-law. Of course, that description also works for my own sisters, but I hope it's obvious that I would always refer to them as my sisters...

Sometimes it's hard being a pedant...

sister-in-law is appropriate... it is not totally incorrect.
