Is Gimp any good? I've been using a pretty old version of Paint Shop Pro for all my image editing up to now, and it's been fine for my limited needs, but I'm really annoyed that saving anything from it destroys EXIF data. Does Gimp keep EXIF data when you save changes? I geotag my photos and EXIF data is vital for this.

Cool. I'll give it a try. Bit of a dodgy name, though - Abby raised an eyebrow after she saw I'd installed a program called Rasterbator recently. :)

If you're too used to Photoshop, Gimp will be annoying until you get used to it...

And it'll save EXIF data as long as you don't change the format of the picture (e.g. from JPG to PNG) :D

Well, I'm happy to play around. As I say, EXIF data is useful to me. I do all my work in JPGs, as that is what my camera spits out, so no problems there.
