right, have purchased huge quantities of multi-purpose compost, john innes compost (who *is* this john innes bloke anyway?) and peat-free growbags, next job on the list is washing down the walls on the landing and stairs, ready for painting next weekend.

Erk. Need to clear bookshelves first.

Oh, I know this one! Only because I asked myself the self same question yonks ago, pre-Google. He was a 19th cent chap who left his fortune to the betterment of British horticulture. So, I do hope you feel suitably patriotic as you prick out your young seedlings. Which reminds me, I need to ascertain if my begonia tubers are speaking to me after a year of not having been planted.
