Oooh, COOL! It looks almost like the ball is tossed up and you caught it right in front of your nose :)
I totally know how to do it in Photoshop, but my Elements version has different menus than the full version... if you select the bit you want in color with the lasso tool, though, then cut it and paste it into a new layer, you just have to make the back layer black and white. If that makes sense.
