the proto-beard finally having driven me half-insane with the itching, I set to it with a razor to tame it to a more manageable and piratical style.

intrigued - what is it about this one that stands out?

Well, for one thing you're not looking as deadly serious as usual. :-) I like the touch of whimsy. And, for another thing, it's artistic in a very natural way. Some of your photos have an air of "art for art's sake"; I'm not saying that's a bad thing, and it can be extremely effective, but there are times when I feel the special effects have taken over the photograph. But here, everything just seems to work together, and it's an unusual view without feeling in any way forced.

'deadly serious' seems to be my default state when taking a self-portrait, it seems. I think I'm just concentrating on trying to get the framing/exposure and stuff right to remember to relax and enjoy the moment.

The smile here was that I'd worked out a way of taking the shot without the camera being caught in the reflection - blindingly obvious as soon as I realised what the answer was!

A lot of the shots so far have relied on tweaking, partly due to *me* being bored with seeing just another headshot of myself and wanting to see how I can push and pull the image into something more visually striking.

I rather like this one though. :-)

I like this selfportrait
which seems to capture something
a little different than the others...
something we have not seen.

this shot makes you look like eddie izzard in a way that I had to physically restrain myself from licking the screen.
