Nov. 11th, 2009 11:29 pmtoday's wonderful things:
some stuff is *really* small
a flock of birds, flocking
cycle chain clock
yikes. That clock is pretty expensive. Seriously, how hard would it be to knock one up? Bike chain, some means of turning a cog (old clock?), some metal numbers, etc.
Hmmm. *strokes chin, thoughtfully*
some days I love the interwebs.

Date: 2009-11-12 05:45 am (UTC)I'd start with a small clock module (I've already got one spare), which cost about £3.30 from Maplin, or just buy a cheap wall clock and take the module out. I'm not convinced it'll have the power to move a heavy chain though, unless the chain is well balanced.
Hmm...
(I bought the clock module years ago. Our office didn't have a clock, so I got a cardboard box, drew a clock face on it, poked a hole in it for the module, made some hands out of card and stuck them on. It worked perfectly. It took several days for our boss to figure out it was a working clock - he thought it was a dummy and that we kept moving the hands when he wasn't looking! Even when we told him it was real he didn't believe us at first.)
