A British monarch. Bit late for Sherlock, but we're on the right patch of land. All we need now is a more general subject to give us access to Sherlock's time. Aha!

3.He was a writer (this seemed a bit like cheating...Except to it lead to a rabbit warren of ever more specific lists....3. So I cheated and went back to Bruce Marshall and then to Scotland. Stupid that I didn't pick this to begin with.
4. Which lead to Arthus Conan Doyle (duh!)...
