Inspired by a bit on Dave Gorman's radio show at the weekend, when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Is it different from what you are doing now? If you've still not grown up (like me), what do you want to do when/if you do grow up?

As a kid I had no idea what I wanted to be. As a teenager I wanted to be a Doctor. As a University student I wanted to be paid for doing something, and as a supposed adult I want to be James May.

When I was really little I wanted to be a botanist, when I was a bit older I guess I wanted to be Modesty Blaise, or Indiana Jones, or at the very least a tomboy. I guess I still sort of do.

What I've become so far is mostly just educated :o)

At about three, I wanted to be a nurse. From about 7-12, a ballerina. From 12-14-ish, a comedian. From 14-18, a journalist. From then on, a paid writer[1] for preference, but just paid if not.

[1] I don't really believe myself to have achieved this, to be honest. A couple of hundred for one published book is not really paid!

From the day my mom brought my sister home from the hospital, I've wanted to be a mom. (WHAT was I THINKING???? lol) Doing it.

Since a jewelry class in high school, I've wanted to make/sell/work with jewelry. Doing it!

2 for 2 - awesome!

When choosing my options for GCSE teh school insisted I put down a job so they could advise me if it was suitable.
I put dentist..
Why?
Because I am cack at maths so although I find science fascinating and theory quite easy doing the mathematics to prove owt is impossible so any form of science based degree would have been out.
SO what is left as a scientific type job without needing to be able to do equations..
Medicine or dentistry...
Medicine was discounted due to the fact that
1. people die
2. you have to look up peoples bums.
These to a lad of my age were very good reasons.
Plus as a dentist you get some cool toys.

I wanted to be a super-hero.

So yes, it is different from what I'm doing now.

OR IS IT?
