had friends round for tea last night - K cooked a delicious frittata which involved putting the frying pan into the oven to cook the top.

She lifted it out onto the hob, very carefully using oven gloves.

I then picked it up.

Not using oven gloves.

It was a bit hot.

I love ice packs. 3+ hours of ice packs and my hand is still a bit sore, but nowhere near as bad as it was first thing last night!

Aaaaaaaaaa! God, you poor thing. I did one of those a couple of weeks ago and it took me three days of soaking the pan and scrubbing it intermittently to get the spot-welded egg off.

Tasty, though.

Ouch! I hope your hand is okay and feeling better! Regarding your comment elsewhere, it may be that some of the pain was from the ice pack, not the burn, but I still choose ice pain over burn pain. Psychologically, anyway. Burn pain feels like you're still burning somewhere on a cellular level, ice pain at least feels like the actual burning process is being halted.
I think holding a cold beer would help.
