Whilst I was aware of Tim Minchin in a... peripheral sort of sense (heard the name, vaguely aware that he was an Australian eye-shadow wearing comic who many people found jolly amusing), I really had no idea.

Take this:

It's utterly glorious, and a better way of spending ten minutes of your time, I cannot fathom.

Oh god. It is just me - I know this - but I can't stand him. This was the first thing I ever heard of his, and it gets my back up, not because I believe in auras and homeopathy (no ta); but because his entire shtick - and the same can and should be said of Richard Dawkins - only works if he's delivering it to people who already agree with him. So basically it's a load of properly-educated critical thinkers sniggering about people who aren't properly-educated, or who just aren't as bright. Ngngng.

Eh, you do know that's only one of his routines, yes? I don't think you could say the same about "Inflatable You", for example

Been following him for a while, both on video and on Twitter. Funny, not afraid to speak his mind, irreverent, pompous-puncturing...can occasionally be edgy, but a lot of good comics are, not afraid to poke a stick at some of the seamier sides of life. I don't agree with everything he says, but I laugh at the way he says it, and applaud the fact that he has. Because people have to have the right to question, to point out faults in accepted theories, and to point out faults in pointing out faults in accepted theories.
And he's funny :)

Indeed - I do love this. When talking to somebody online they asked if I was spirtual - I said not really - the closest I got was "storm".

The conversation went down hill from there.

Oh and if you liked that and can handle some swearing I recomend this....

While I have made Storm-like arguments before (usually tipsy), I am on the side of science these days. This, while it stung a few times, was just bloody brilliant.

These are the dinner guests I'd love! Thank you for sharing.
