There's an old thing going around on google maps - get directions from China to Japan, and check out instruction #42


So I thought I'd try some others

Google 'New York to Japan', instructions #31 and #46. Amused by the bit in the middle which takes you across Honolulu. Not only that, but it takes you across the entire island. Why not just kayak past it?

You can, however, extend the Japan route from NY all the way to Sydney, Australia.

Try from Taiwan to China, and check out step 23. You don't even get a kayak.

At least going from Japan and China you get a Jet Ski in #43.

Mind you, this is after it's already got you taking a Ferry in #36

it amused me that it warned of tolls, and ferries, but not huge swathes of ocean.
