dakegraWent to see Chris Wood play a little folk club in Maltby, near Rotherham, last night.
I'd heard of him through the Radio 2 Folk Awards - he won folk singer of the year amongst other things. My friend Ned said he was playing (relatively) nearby so we should go.
Crikey moley, that boy is some musician. The sound he was getting out of his guitar was simply stunning. I'm generally in awe of anyone who can play a tune, but to do that, to that standard, up on stage is an entirely different thing.
He's a natural storyteller too, and kept us entertained for well over two hours. Fabulous, thought-provoking, toe-tapping music.
Awesome. If you ever get the chance to see him play live, I'd highly recommend it.
