EB and I were talking about books the other day. He mentioned that a friend of his got a pound every time he finished a book.

I looked a little surprised at this - it's never occurred to me to have some kind of reward system to get the kids to read books.

EB then said that he didn't need a pound to finish a book, as he got a reward anyway.

What's that, EB?

Well, I get to find out what happens!

I grin.

And! says he. I get to start a new one.

o.0 A pound a book? Wish I'd know to pull that one on my folks, kerrrching! If it had been by weight I could have made a mint from my dad's hardback collection of Dickens. Apart from actually enjoying reading and learning.. oh wait.

We were never paid to read as kids, we just read for reading's sake.
