NaNo update: Day 3

Current wordcount: just shy of 4,000 words. Still got another thousand to do before bed. I will not fall behind this early!

Interestingly, my characters appear to be taking on a life of their own - my much-planned main protagonist has singularly failed to be who she's supposed to be, but I'm rolling with it and seeing where it takes me. Other characters are behaving, more or less, but there's the sudden appearance of a billionaire ore dealer's private inter-system yacht which caught me unawares, so now I've got to deal with that.

I was chatting with EB about the story and he asked a couple of questions, paused for thought, then came up with a 'what if...' which was like a lightbulb moment.

Seriously, if you're struggling with plot, try explaining it to a ten year-old. If they get it, you're on the right track.

will do. Plot bunnies always welcome! I'm just shy of 7k at the moment, anther 1300 to do before bed tonight. Was hoping to get ahead a bit, but the story is still going along, and as I said to caitirin, EB is now firmly on-side as Junior Plot Editor.

Though he insists I need someone called 'Steve' in it, and forced me to explain the layout of my spaceship.

hee! the characters are all sort of behaving now. EB is on board as plot advisor, and we've worked out I need another half-dozen redshirts so that Alice (the soon-to-be-crazy AI) can start bumping them off.

But that's not for another few days - just shy of 7k now, got to get to 8300 by the end of the day!

You can do it!! I LOVE having a plot advisor XD I bet EB is a fantastic one, too. And killing off people always makes for a good word count. Too bad I don't have plans for it in this year's novel!
