Hoick! I love that word. I was having that same problem last year at this time. I appear to have adjusted my figure a wee bit and have less of a problem, alas.
Short term fix, a belt, medium term fix; slit the waistband casing near side seams, insert widest elastic waistband will accommodate, machine sew elastic beyond slit and close to side seams, catch stitch slits closed. This method will take a couple of inches out of the waist without too much faffing. If you've lost so much weight that slightly elasticating the back waist would not be a good fix then buy new trousers. Unless they are your most favouritest trousers in the whole world, it's not worth trying to completely alter them, there are so many points of fit in trousers a good fit wouldn't be obtainable.
