Am I right in guessing that this is about Hansa's? People who are serious about curry seem to really like it, whether they're veggies or not. But personally, I hate it, because absolutely everything they serve is way too spicy for me. I can manage at a standard Indian restaurant by ordering things like korma or tikka masala, but there's pretty much no escape from extreme spiciness at Hansa's. My heart always sinks when work colleagues suggest going there - which they do quite often, because we have a vegan member of staff, so it means maximum choice for her. :-(

Indeed it is. Peer and I at work got to discussing curry, and it transpires that he's never been so we cooked up (sorry) the idea of a curry night out there.

Then it turns out that Rich won't eat non-meat curry, Darren doesn't like curry full stop, etc etc.

So, it's either just me and him, or we go out for just beer instead.

I'm fairly sure they'd make a milder version if you asked? Unless you've already asked, of course!

I'm in the 'like it fairly spicy' brigade - not *too* fiery, but with a decent kick to go with the flavour. Plus, Hansa's gajjar halwa is the finest dessert ever. Indian carrot cake. NOM.

All of which leads me to the question: Coffee? I know we tried (ish) before christmas, but stuff has settled down a bit now!

Last time I was there, I asked for advice on what the least spicy things on the menu were, and ordered those. But what I got still wasn't very pleasant as I far as I was concerned. I suspect I must have more sensitive taste-buds than most people, as I literally can't understand how people can bear to eat really spicy foods, let alone enjoy them. Even what's billed as a 'sweet chilli sauce' is often too hot for me.

As for coffee - sure! Is next Tuesday any good for you? And would you like to come up to Opposite, or shall we meet in town? I'm intrigued by this Bottega Milanese place you've been mentioning...

sweet chili sauce often does have a decent kick to it - I can fully understand why you might not like it!

Tuesday should be fine - got a meeting at 2pm which I need to be back for, but free before that. Happy to come up to you. Bottega is wonderful, but down by the Calls, which is quite a trek for me at lunchtime, and significantly further for you!

Oh, right - yes, that is quite a way from where I'll be starting. Shall we say 12:30 at Opposite, then, so we're not rushed and you can be sure to get back in plenty of time? And shall I text [livejournal.com profile] nalsa as well to let him know?

Excellent - see you (and hopefully [livejournal.com profile] nalsa) then. :-)
