Holy cow, that was a lot to write about someone he doesn't like very much.

I think our Ken must have run over his puppy or something.

Well, I don't read the column regularly, but, I believe that I've read the same loosely-connected guff from this person before. It mostly seems to be based around this actor/actress hasn't lived up to their media hype (which we journalists help create). Quelle surprise.

Knocking Kenneth Branagh for playing Wallander is the shooting fish in a barrel thing. As it happens Branagh played it quite differently from the two Swedish actors who did the same role. I'd call that distinctive acting and making the role your own. There's no pleasing some folk.

I'm a huge fan of Mr Branagh's work. Wallander was bloody brilliant.

He was indeed. I think he really grasped the ennui and conflict of the character exceedingly well. I also think he has rumpled, world-weary, hotness. *cough*

Many years ago someone I used to work with said I reminded her of Mr K. Branagh.

In a certain light, perhaps. Mainly mostly dark.

When you have serious face there is a certain resemblance (that's not in the dark!). However, it should be said you rule in your own right.

I think that piece is a bit too full on, 1700 words of I don't like Ken is a bit much, but I agree with the main points:

1) Branagh is hard for a lot of people, me included, to warm to as an actor.
2) He can be a bit bland, in both looks and performance.
3) Why the fuck did he decide to do Thor?
4) He hasn't done anywhere near as well as expected, based on early promise. Though obviously he's by no means the only one for whom that has happened.

I preferred the Swedish version of Wallander on BBC4 by miles to his.

The clips I've seen make it look like Highlander II.

oh dear lord, the horror

*shudders*

(have heard of the Thor movie, but no idea about the actual comics. Same with Iron Man, but thoroughly enjoyed that one)
